Onobiren
Background
Onobiren: A Woman’s Story tells the story of a young girl forced to navigate an impossible situation in order to raise money for her brother’s surgery. The film explores resilience, sacrifice, and the difficult choices people make when pushed to their limits.
As the film prepared for release, it needed a promotional campaign that could communicate both the emotional weight of the story and the scale of the production. The goal was to create marketing materials that would capture attention, build anticipation, and give the film a strong, memorable presence across both digital and physical touchpoints.
The campaign ultimately contributed to the film becoming a commercial success, earning over 100 million naira within its first 20 days in cinemas.
Our Approach
My role focused on designing the promotional and marketing materials used throughout the film’s campaign. I developed a wide range of social media and publicity designs that helped introduce the story, build excitement ahead of release, and maintain momentum after the premiere.
The designs were created to balance emotion and drama with a polished, cinematic feel. Using bold compositions, striking typography, and carefully selected imagery from the film, each asset was designed to communicate the seriousness of the story while remaining visually compelling and instantly recognizable.
For social media, I created promotional graphics tailored to different stages of the campaign, including announcement posts, character reveals, countdowns, release-day content, audience reactions, and milestone graphics. The aim was to ensure that every post felt cohesive and instantly connected to the identity of the film.
Beyond digital promotion, I also designed the visual materials for the film’s official premiere event. This included the event backdrops, invitation cards, access cards, and access tags. Each piece was designed to extend the film’s visual identity into the physical event space, creating a seamless and immersive experience for guests, cast, crew, and members of the press.
The result was a unified campaign that strengthened the film’s presence both online and offline, helping Onobiren: A Woman’s Story stand out in a crowded entertainment landscape.
